WU obtained an MA from the Graduate Institute of Studies in Documentary at Tainan National University of the Arts. WU has been making documentaries since 1996. His earlier film Swimming on the Highway (1998) awarded for the Ogawa Shinsuke Prize at the Yamagata International Documentary Film Festival. WU currently works as a freelance scriptwriter, director and cinematographer.
