HSU was born shortly before martial law was lifted in Taiwan. Her works have been shown internationally. By challenging artistic convention and genre, she has been able to form her own unique aesthetic and has proven herself to be a skilled and sensitive storyteller. She continues to push the boundaries of filmmaking and to explore personal desire and loss to illuminate an entire era.
