Synopsis
"Every time I go fishing out at sea, I would try to get a closer look at Kweishan lsland. Even just to look at it once more!" All the childhood memories and the distinct qualities of the villagers are buried on Kweishan lsland when the whole village was relocated. "Now we hide our homesickness in our dreams." In the hearts of these displaced islanders, watching the growing tourism on the lsland hurts them deeply.
Director Statement
'I originally thought my relationship with Guishan Island was close... but it was wishful thinking, my own imagination. Should I stand in their shoes or mine? What exactly defines my standpoint? I'm quite uncertain. Is this film meant to speak for them or to make everyone want to visit the place? Eventually, I realised everything was filmed for my nostalgia.' - LEE Yung-chuan
