Introduction

HUANG Sheng-chun, based in Taipei, is a filmmaker navigating between fiction and non-fiction storytelling. His works have centered on themes related to Taiwan’s history and human rights, with a commitment to uncovering subtle emotions and forgotten memories. He creates one to two short films annually, exploring hybrid storytelling that blends fiction, documentary, and experimental techniques. His documentary works have been recognized by both domestic and international film festivals. Among them, Reconstruction of New Llife was selected for the Okinawa Pan-Pacific International Film Festival, while An Invisible Red Line won Best Student Documentary at the 46th Golden Harvest Awards. The co-directed Relife received third prize at the 2022 New Taipei City Documentary Awards and won Best Student Documentary at the 45th Golden Harvest Awards. The co-directed Afterlife, which combines live-action and animation, was selected for the 2023 FID Campus at the Marseille International Film Festival in France.
