With Japanese and Chinese descent and a western education, Al is fully trilingual in English, Japanese and Chinese, and moves comfortably across different cultures and languages in his filmmaking endeavours. Al’s award wins include a Peabody and an Emmy and has been nominated for others including the Rory Peck Social Impact Award and Royal Television Society (UK).
