Chen is a documentarist. She stayed on the offshore islets of Penghu for literacy education. Graduated from a college of arts, she moved to Penghu to collect their local images, focusing herself on marine issues, such as the daily life of its offshore islets or disappearing fishing methods. She completed several news reports one after another and kept making documentaries on the islands about the life stories of the local people on them.

In 2018, with the documentary short, “Twenty Minutes”, she was nominated by Taiwan Women’s Film Association, Taipei International Labor Film Festival among others, and got subsidized by New Taipei City Documentary Awards, National Culture and Arts Foundation and so on. From the marine ecology issues, she made videos like “Pearl Sea” and “Styrofoam of Adventure” to question how our authorities deal with the problems of marine debris and what their environmental policies are.

In 2025, she made “Mrs. Islets” and “Study Hard” with the offshore islets, Huayu and Hujing as the backgrounds, where she stayed for many years, to record how the local people on them face life and build self-esteem.
