HUANG Hua-cheng was born in Nanjing in 1935. He relocated to Taiwan in 1949 and graduated in arts from National Taiwan Normal University. He worked for advertising company and TV station and as graphic designer for Theatre Quarterly. He published the Ecole de Great Taipei manifesto in 1966 and worked for Shaw Brothers Pictures in Hong Kong in the 1970s. He died of illness in 1996 in Taipei.
