Synopsis
Through the recollections of Kaohsiung's movie billboard masters, the artistic techniques, the apprenticeship life, and the display of their skills, the glory and prosperity of the theaters of yesteryear are recreated, allowing us a glimpse into the golden age of cinema.
Director Statement
Movie billboards were once a familiar and everyday sight for me. Besides the large, façade-like posters hung on movie theaters for first-run films, our childhood neighbor was a billboard painting master. The rich colors and the pungent smell up close are unforgettable memories from my youth. At some point, movie billboards disappeared, movie theaters gradually declined, and watching a movie was no longer an everyday thing but a special, almost ritualistic option. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity to express my love and belief in cinema by documenting the stories of Kaohsiung's last generation of movie billboard masters at such a moment.
