Synopsis
In the summer of 1999, Han-Pei and Tu-Bao announced their plan to get married on December 31st, inviting friends and family from both sides in hopes of receiving their blessings. But the wedding never happened—the relationship ended as abruptly as it began.
Tu-Bao, however, refused to let go. Clinging to the past and the love she believed in, she kept trying to win Han-Pei back.
Would she succeed in turning things around before the clock struck midnight?
Director Statement
Through the documentary 2, 1, I was transported back to Taiwan in 1999—a time when being LGBTQ+ still meant facing widespread societal prejudice. Yet even in those restrictive times, some chose to live bravely and authentically, expressing their true selves. Having lived through that era, this film resonates with me deeply. It’s a powerful reminder that the freedom we enjoy today didn’t come easily—it was earned through years of courage and quiet resistance. And for that, I cherish the present even more.
