Synopsis

This story is about me and the world I carry behind me, shaped by the deaths of four loved ones and the profound question of "who am I." It's also a portrayal of Taiwan's people, witnessing their journey through the changing times from the decline of a family.

Director Statement

The story begins in 2015 when I was mistakenly identified as someone else at a Thai airport and subsequently banned from entering Thailand for life. This incident prompted me to question my identity, asking "who am I?" As I delved into my life experiences to answer this profound question, I realized that my existence encompasses not only my individual self but also my family members around me. Reflecting on the previous generation, I saw my father's four deceased siblings, each with seemingly peculiar life trajectories deeply influenced by 1980s Taiwanese society. Through this journey of reminiscence, the era's landscape and atmosphere in Taiwan became evident. However, I also discovered that I had been waiting for their deaths, anticipating a moment when no one could interfere with my autonomy so that I could possess them and shape them into what I deemed fit.
