Synopsis
Hua Yang and Afa are two competitive freediving athletes. One is focused on breaking the deepest record in Asia, while the other aspires to claim the crown of Taiwan's top freediver. Both received invitations to compete in the prestigious "Blue Hole Vertical Blue Depth Competition." This documentary follows their journey from land to underwater, capturing their contrasting styles and perspectives as they merge in the tranquil yet mysterious blue depths.
Director Statement
Diving into the water requires courage. Standing at the edge and not just yearning for the fish but becoming one with the water. Each dive, regardless of its success or perfection, is worth commemorating. The unique personalities of Hua Yang and A-Xian inspired me to pick up the camera, capturing their adventures and editing the footage with my team. This process, both spontaneous and meticulously thought-out, was like navigating the tumultuous waves of the sea. Yet, diving ten meters underwater, the surface's wind and waves disappear, replaced by an endless expanse of pure blue. I hope this dive captures that fleeting moment of serenity.
