Synopsis

Veterinarian Yu-Husan Lin originally majored in forestry in college. After graduation, she decided to retake the college entrance exam to pursue her dream of becoming an veterinarian. She successfully got into the Department of Veterinary Medicine at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, realizing her aspiration to care for animals, especially wildlife. At the WildOne wildlife rescue hospital in Chishang, Taitung, she has treated various animals, including protected species such as Formosan Black Bears, Taiwan serows, pangolins, Reeve's Muntjac, and cobras. However, over the past two or three years, she has encountered an increasing number of severe lacerations and torn wounds during emergency surgeries. Who - or what - is the culprit behind these injuries?

Since implementing the no-kill policy for stray dogs in 2017, the population of stray dogs has surged by nearly 160,000 in just five years. By 2022, the population of stray dogs and free-roaming dogs with owners had reached 180,000. The number of wildlife injuries caused by dog attacks has also steadily increased. Free-roaming dogs have become an undeniable threat to Taiwan's natural ecosystems. All life forms are equally valuable, and every species deserves a suitable habitat. Dogs and cats should be cared for in homes, allowing wildlife to live peacefully in their natural habitats. This film followed Veterinarian Yu-Husan Lin and Researcher Wen-Xiang Sun, to discover how serious the dog attack issue is in Taiwan.
