Synopsis

In 2002, then-president CHEN Shui-bian signed A New Partnership between the Indigenous Peoples and the Government of Taiwan promising to grant indigenous people autonomy, inherent sovereignty and the right to use traditional natural resources. An aboriginal community believed it and built a community called the Nation of Takasago. The Government decided to act, demolished illegally-built houses there, and caused almost 270 families become homeless.
After the disastrous “Typhoon Morakot” in 2009 in southern Taiwan, Takasago residents and many other aboriginals lost their home and land. They rely on their own strength to find a new promised land flowing with milk and honey. It's a long way full of struggles but they are still insisting on.
