Synopsis
More than 430,000 people from China and Southeast Asian countries marry to the Taiwanese and become “foreign espouse.” Many of them are women from poor families in rural areas in their native countries. Like everyone else, they dream for a happy marriage and a better future. However, when they arrive in Taiwan, they realize that they are treated as “others” who are strangled by the policies with discriminations. Marriage migrants in Taiwan demand nothing but respect and equality. Through years of empowerment, the members of the TransAsia Sisters Association, Taiwan (TASAT) realized that immigrants have to unite and fight for their rights. To encourage their fellow immigrants to join them, they shout, “My sisters, let’s not be afraid!”
