Taiwan Docs

This is a film that documents the lives and work of 7 female figure art models in Taiwan. The film reveals not only what happens to them at work, but also their emotional response as a result of it. It shows their struggle to shake off the age-old destiny of how they are looked at and interpreted as just a still life. These figure models are alive and have thoughts of their own. They are artists who work with their bodies.

Despite the pressures patriarchal society forces on them, they continue to search for the right to take back control of their own bodies. In the limited space (both literally and figuratively) in which they are given, they express themselves as they take courage to come out and say who they are and show what they do. This film provides a perceptive and thoughtful analysis of these figure srtists and gradually reveals the potential of the human body and spirit.
