Director Statement
The Indian intellectuals are curious about the Chinese area in India. Despite the fact that both communities live in Calcutta, it is hard for Indians to get close to the Chinese culture. With a Chinese appearance, people usually talk to me about cultural issues, which inspired me a lot. The crew finally went out to film after a long study of the subject matter. The first scene was during Chinese New Year. The Chinese neighbourhood was located in a slum in Calcutta, which posed a major challenge. Meanwhile, the Indian crew told me later on that there were still tensions and gaps between the Indian and Chinese communities. This is what I, as a Chinese, have never realised. It is also the main subject matter in this film.
