Over a century has passed since this country shifted from monarchy to republic. On its way to democracy, Republic of China rose and fell with the conflict between national salvation and enlightenment. By examining important thoughts of the time, the historic events and the changes in the political systems, this film reviews the entanglements encountered by the Republic of China during the process of democratization as well as its attempts to make itself a better country.
