The Lius are a famous and representative Hakka clan at Shih Kang in Taichung. The Liu home is a well-known historical architecture. On September 21, 1999, a terrible disaster happened. The building that has existed for 200 years had collapsed. Concerned enthusiasts from all over Taiwan went to help re-establish the Lius' home. They became know as the "Shih Kang Workshop of Re-establishment." But, family arguments and land disputes have existed for a long time in this kind of clan. After the earthquake, all kinds of problems emerged and now non-locals have to step in to mitigate the Liu's household affairs.
