CHUNG Ru-Dong lives in the town of Dong-Shu in Taichung Country. On September 19, 1999, he went to Kaohsiung for work taking along with him his eldest and youngest daughter, and leaving behind fis aged parents, two more daughters and his only son. At 1:47 AM on September 21, a powerful earthquake struck central Taiwan. After spending two days in Kaohsiung, Dong found out just how serious the situation was from the news footage he saw. He rushed back to Taichung only to discover that the disaster had taken his father, his two daughters and his only son, as well as his brother's arms. The process of healing was a difficult one and on October 30th, Dong decides to leave the place of his deepest sorrow and memories.
