Synopsis
This work was inspired by a documentary entitled Ba-In, which tells a story of a Ba-In (a Hakkaian traditional music) musician's effort preserving the Hakkaian culture and the conservative family relationship through his music. The director of this documentary used “Ba-In” to allude to “the voice of the father”.
Within this context, a young Hakka music writer who is a friend of an older traditional music player appears to meet with him. They converse, go over different types of music and discuss the background of their life experiences from the perspective of their difference in ages. We see a picture appear in which special music and feelings that belong to the Hakka people are revealed. It is a style of life which includes both traditionalist thought and openness, conflict and tolerance.
