Director Statement
Come Home, My Child tell four women and inmates who have to find love despite the tragedies in their lives What attracted me to Mama Yang was her passion to inmates serving long-term imprisonment. However, Mama Yang’s fragile side is revealed when facing her granddaughter’s pain of losing her father. This wall of isolation undoubtedly hinders communication between them. The touching story inspired me to spend 10 years of my life filming this documentary in the U.S. and Taiwan. In the time of pandemic and the chaos of war, many people lost their beloved ones. Through the love shown in this documentary, I hope the audience can grasp the power of love from the struggles in life.
