Synopsis
With the assistance of the Psychology Department at the Shin-Yi Hospital, this documentary film records the life of non-hospitalized mentally ill patients and their families. Featured in this film is a woman suffering from hallucinations of alien voices; another woman fell ill when her little daughter became afficted with severe mental retardation after a persistent fever; an interior decoration worker remains optimistic even after his wife and son abandoned him during his illness...
By presenting a portrait of the daily lives of the patients in this film, the filmmaker hopes to change the violent and maniacal stereotype of mentally ill individuals. The testimonies of the family members of these patients are another focus of this film. For the first time in Taiwanese documentary film history, audience will witness the reality of living with and caring for mentally ill patients.
