In 1985, LIN wrote his first script in order to apply for a directing writing workshop. The acceptance to the workshop had changed his life thereafter. LIN was deeply moved by the Third World films and Taiwan New Wave. In 2010, LIN released a documentary film, Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars, which was the first documentary in Asia having children with autism as filming subject. He has previously received awards from Festival de Cannes, as well as International Film Festival of Berlin.
